KFTF- Inventors from Japan have created a smart nose to identify a person by breathing

--

While I still can’t begin to trust face id and start using it, there is a knock from the future.

Scientists from the Kyushu University’s Institute for Materials Chemistry and Engineering, together with the University of Tokyo, have invented a sensor that can identify people by their breath.

In the process of breathing, people secrete a number of compounds that can be used for authentication. A total of 28 of them were found to be suitable for the experiment.

A smart nose consisting of an array of 16 channel sensors combined with machine learning was able to identify 20 people with over 97% accuracy.
